 Day 3-5

Daughters of St Paul

Provincial Chapter 2025 News Flash 2

After entering into Recollection on Day 2, the Chapter delegates began with the Rosary, followed by the online talk by Fr Jose Pottayil SSP, who is presently based in Spain. He invited us to reflect on our identity as a Pauline and cautioned us that many of us hold Blessed James Alberione as an object of devotion but he has left us a legacy. He challenged us to be concerned about the absence of the Good News among people we have not yet reached. We need to carry out our mission, never as an individual but as a communitarian enterprise. We pondered on these among other inspirational thoughts from him, and later came as an assembly to share what had inspired us. Day 3 also continued in recollection, by Fr Devasia Puthiyaparampil SSP, who gave us 3 talks through day, explaining the Chapter theme from the angle of Pauline charism, that is to Jesus the Truth, Way and Life. In the sharing which we had later, many were touched by the emphasis on the work of the Holy Spirit, which he explained, in the life of Jesus, Mary, Alberione, apostles and every Christian. He focused on the need to ‘listen’, and this is very much in line with the synodal journey we have recently begun. In this evolving world, we need to adapt according to the spiritual needs of the people, with a professionalism in both personal and apostolic life. Many noted his call to become more alert about the growing tendency to imbibe secular influence in our day-to-day life becoming more individualistic and consumeristic. Day 3 came to a conclusion with this listening and sharing.

The main highlight of Day 4, i.e. 8th January, was Listening to the Reality of the Province, which included a report by our Provincial Sr Matilda D’Souza and each of the Provincial Councillors about the formation, spirituality, apostolate and administration. By evening all were thoughtful and reflective about the concerns of the province. Day 5, 9th January wakened the delegates to a day dedicated to
getting fresh highlights from the Fr Joby Anand, Director of Atmadarshan TV, Indore, on digital evangelization andits success story. We gained new insights and were challenged by him to be true to our identity as media evangelizers and the potential we have at hand, which we are not tapping enough. Showing us varied genres and categories of events which he showcases through Atmadarshan  TV,

he gave us a clear idea of quality in terms of audio and video content. In the afternoon we had sharing in groups, on what inspired us from his talk, and what could be actually achieved in our province in the digital apostolate. By evening the Chapter delegates were filled with ideas and enthusiasm for renewing the apostolic fervour in our province, especially with regard to our response to digital audiences.  The day came to a close with time for personal prayer, bringing a meaningful close to Day 5.
